Work with Clarian Marketing on bimonthly referral newsletter, which is aimed
at boosting referrals from pediatricians and family doctors from around the
state. Assist
in determining editorial content, write features, assign and edit other submissions,
and coordinate with designer on production.

(2002-2008)
Collaborate with marketing consultant on quarterly consumer health newsletter,
which is customized for client physicians and hospitals. Newsletter is targeted
to women as primary health care decision makers in families and features health
tips and information. Assist in determining editorial content, provide supplemental
research, and write and edit copy.
Purdue
University, West Lafayette, Indiana
(2002-present)
Work with the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management on semi-annual,
16-page newsletter aimed at alumni and faculty. Assist in determining editorial
content, edit faculty-submitted articles, write features, and lay out pages.
Also provide editing, proofreading and layout services for annual newsletter
of the Department of Foods and Nutrition.

(2001) Designed and launched newsletter for organization that provides social,
employment and other services to persons with developmental and physical disabilities.
Newsletter supplements direct sales and other marketing activities designed
to generate industrial contracts and service referrals.
Streetmail,
North Adams, Massachusetts
(2000-2001) Served as local correspondent for national company producing online
newsletters around the country. Researched and wrote weekly newsletter covering
Montgomery and Tippecanoe county (Indiana) issues and events. Fielded questions
and comments from online readers and reported on their responses in each issue.
Cummins
Mental Health Center, Danville, Indiana
(1996-97) As part of marketing campaign aimed at the working-well population,
designed and launched community newsletter to help dispel myths that behavioral
health services were only suitable for seriously mentally ill people. Also developed
referral newsletter to help generate more referrals from physicians and other
professionals that did not traditionally refer to the center. Both newsletters
covered mental health issues, promoted the professionalism of clinical staff
and highlighted new services.
St.
Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville, Indiana
(1995-96) Created monthly referral newsletter to promote geriatric mental health
services. Researched, wrote, edited and produced each issue, focusing on a single
mental health topic for each. Worked closely with social services and nursing
staff to determine educational needs of referral sources, with the intent of
garnering more appropriate referrals to unit and improving outcomes after patients
were discharged.
Reid
Hospital & Health Care Services, Richmond, Indiana
(1990-95) Researched, wrote, edited and produced two physician newsletters:
a monthly aimed at medical staff, and a bimonthly aimed at all potential referring
physicians in the service area. During corporate identity campaign, proposed
and implemented a plan to condense the two publications into a single monthly
issue, with a design that met new graphics standards and a focus that more closely
aligned with hospital marketing objectives. Each issue featured articles on
new hospital services, continuing education opportunities and medical staff
accomplishments.
Indianapolis
Public Schools, Indianapolis, Indiana
(1988-90) Researched, wrote, edited and produced employee newsletter that was
issued every other week to staff at 80+ sites. During transition to in-house
production, also redesigned newsletter to enhance readability and to soften
the top-down communication style that had affected the newsletter's readership.
The newly designed newsletter focused on staff and school accomplishments, giving
all employees a greater opportunity for recognition.
